I, personally appreciate community living in the winter, especially as I live alone and do not have family in the area. The isolation can get to you, despite feeding the wood burning stove, reading and baking. Not to mention the need to do winter chores. While shoveling is a novelty and can be fun during the first couple of snowstorms, after a while it becomes a chore. However, when you are shoveling with friends, and you are talking and laughing, it is not so bad.
Not to mention the economic advantage, that of sharing the cost, for example, of the electric snow blower.
Being a social person, after a few days indoors, I am ready to be sociable.
Community living allows just that, despite the winter weather. We simply bundle up and walk to our neighbors for coffee, happy hour or a meal. Often times pizza, muffins, fruit and various care packages are shared and enjoyed by one another. If a member is venturing out, very often others are asked if they need anything. Same is true when individuals are not feeling well or injured.
Community living allows the members to pick and choose their neighbors. If not for community living, I would probably be "condo living" hardly knowing my neighbors.
That being said, I am looking forward to Community living in spring, and bonfires!
